আমরা বাঙালি,খুবই গর্বিত হই, নেতাজী, রবীন্দ্রনাথ, আমাদের সংস্কৃতি,ঐতিহ্য,ইতিহাস সবই অমূল্য রতন।তবে বাঙালি বল্লে শুধু এই গুলোকেই বোঝায় না।বোঝায় এর বাইরেও বেঁচে থাকা সামাজিক পরিস্থিতিকে যা বর্তমানে পরিবর্তন হচ্ছে প্রতিমুহূর্তে।বাঙালি বাবু গল্পে মসগুল,তেল দেওয়া ভুঁড়িতে হাত বুলিয়ে পরের নিন্দামন্দ,নোংরা পলিটিক্স,কি করে পাশের বাড়ির ক্ষতি চাওয়া এই মধ্যবিওের বাঙালি,অফিসের ফেরার রাস্তায় বাইজি,জুয়া খেলার বাবু,যারা নিজেদের উন্নতির বদলে অন্যের অবনতি নিয়ে আলোচনায় বেশি মসগুল।ঐতিহ্যের মানচিত্রকে সামনে রেখে পেছনে ছুড়ি কাচিঁ চালানো বাবু,কাস্টিসিজমে চেপে ধরা বাবু,মদ্য নয় সুরা পানের বাবু কি ঐতিহ্য! সত্যি বাঙালি আজ গর্ভ করে মাত্র দশ শতাংশের জন্য আর বাকি নব্বই এর এই হাল।আমাদের সংস্কৃতিকে মূল্য না দিয়ে,তাকে গৌরব গরিমার আসনে না রেখে বিদেশী সংস্কৃতি গ্রহনের বাবু অনেকটা দাঁড়কাক আর ময়ূরের পালকের মত।কে ভাবছে?আমাদের শিক্ষার,সিস্টেমের সমস্যাকে নিয়ে জল্পনা কল্পনা অথচ বিদেশে মোটা টাকা আর প্রাচুর্যের জন্য বিদেশ পারি,কিছু বছর পরে বলতেও শুরু করে আমি বিদেশী।কিছু মহাপুরূষের আড়ালে এই বস্তাপচা নোংরা মানসিকতার বাঙালি যে নিজের থালাতে খেয়ে নিজের থালাতেই ছেদ করছে,চল্লিশ শতাংশের বেশী বিজ্ঞানী অথচ তারা বাঙালি হয়ে ও বিদেশী।সত্যি লজ্জার আর কিছু বাকি আছে,কাজে ফাঁকি দিয়ে সরকারের, জনগনের, নেতৃত্বের গালমন্দ।বাঙালি যদি সত্যি এগুলো ছেড়ে বেড়িয়ে আসত,উন্নত দেশে যাবার প্রয়োজন হত না,দেশ টাই উন্নত হতে পারত,কারন বাঙালির বুদ্ধি,কুটনীতি,দৃঢ়তা,অনুশীলন প্রখর কিন্তু আজ তা অলীক স্বপ্ন।
