সংবাদ মাধ্যম এক প্রকার গনমাধ‍্যমের ভীত।সাধারন মানুষের সমস্যা,তাদের দাবী,তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ঘটা অন‍্যায় এগুলো বহিঃপ্রকাশের মাধ্যম।যা হল মূর্দা কথায় গনমাধ‍্যমের সতন্ত্র আস্থার স্থল।কিন্তু আজ দুঃখের বিষয় এটা যে গনমাধ‍্যমই মাঝেমধ্যে নিজস্ব অস্তিত্ব হারাচ্ছে বা বিক্রিত হচ্ছে সাম্ব্রাজ‍্যবাদী মানসিকতার মানুষদের কাছে।কখন নিজেদের পিঠ বাঁচাতে,কখনও পত্রিকার পাবলিসিটি বাড়াতে,মোটা টাকার অঙ্কে কিংবা অস্তিত্বের লড়াইয়ে রাজনৈতিক নেতাদের পা চাটা পোষ‍্যে পরিনত হচ্ছে।কোথাও দেখা যায় প্রতিভাবান মানুষ গুলোকে বাদ দিয়ে খবর হচ্ছে নেপোকিডসদের। কোথাও রংবাজির আড়ালে বিলীন হয়ে যাচ্ছে,এ কোন ধরনের গনমাধ্যম?স্বতন্ত্রতা কোথায়?আমাদের সংবিধানে Article 19 এ আমাদের প্রত‍্যেকের Freedom to Space & Expression এর অধিকার দিয়েছে, press, Media ও এর মধ‍্যে পরে।সংবাদ মাধ‍্যম ও একটা Independent body আরও অনেক Independent body - CAG,Election Comission, judiciary এর মতই।কিন্তু শুধু মাত্র ব‍্যক্তিগত স্বার্থসিদ্ধির জন‍্য বা Life risk এর ভয়ে দিনের পর দিন সংবাদ মাধ্যম তার স্বচ্ছতা হারাচ্ছে।কিন্তু এই ভাবে চলতে থাকলে একদিন গনতান্ত্রিক মাধ্যম পরিনত হবে বস্তাপচা সস্তার জিনিসে,যার গ্রহনীয়তা ক্রমশই কমবে।চোখ রাঙানিকে উপেক্ষা করে,নিজেদের স্বার্থকে বাদ দিলেই সংবাদ মাধ‍্যমের ভূমিকা প্রশংসিত হবে।

English Translation :

The media is a kind of fear of the mass media. The problems of the common people, their demands, the injustice done to them, these are the means of public expression.  Sometimes to save their backs, sometimes to increase the publicity of the newspaper, in the fight for existence or in the fight for existence, the feet of the political leaders are being turned into pets.  What kind of media is this? Where is the uniqueness? Article 19 of our constitution gives each of us the right to Freedom to Space & Expression, after the press, media and so on.  Similar to CAG, Election Commission, judiciary. But the media is losing its transparency day by day just for the sake of personal interests or for fear of life risk.  Ignoring this, the role of the media will be appreciated only if their own interests are excluded.
